Primary education

What does the research involve for participating primary schools and what are we going to do in the four studies?

Information for participating schools

If you would like to take part in our research, please contact us by sending an email to:

All participants will receive a report summarising the results for their school. This report will focus primarily on the effectiveness of the catch-up and support programme in terms of cognitive skills, well-being, confidence and social competences of the participating pupils.

This report can be used to account for the use of the funding received.

The research involves:

Interviews with the school leadership team/managers and administrators (prior to, during and on completion of the programme)

Participation in focus groups with parents and children (during and on completion of the programme)

Observations during the programme (if possible, taking into account Covid-19 regulations)

Analysis of data on pupils' progress (LMS data)

An online questionnaire to be completed by pupils in the final 3 years of primary school and their parents, concerning motivation to learn, satisfaction with school and confidence
